Export & Import

Export your collection data to CSV for backup or sharing, and import smart collections from .afoliocollection files. CSV export and import are available on both the free and Pro tiers; smart-collection import/export requires Pro since smart collections are themselves a Pro feature.

CSV Export

  1. Go to File → Export Data (⌘E)
  2. Choose your export options:
    • Include reference IDs — adds internal IDs for re-import matching
    • Parts data — choose to include owned parts, missing parts, both, or none
  3. Click Export and choose a save location

What's Exported

The CSV includes one row per set instance (if you own two copies of a set, that's two rows). Columns include:

Wishlist items and manually-added minifigures are also included with an entry_type column to distinguish them.

Parts Data Format

When parts data is included, it uses a compact format in the parts_owned column. Each part is encoded as partNum/colorID with quantities. For example: 3x3001/1 3002/5 means 3 of part 3001 in color 1, and 1 of part 3002 in color 5.

CSV Import

  1. Go to File → Import Data (⌘I)
  2. Select a CSV file previously exported from Afolio
  3. The import matches sets by reference ID (if available) or creates new entries

You can also drag and drop a .csv file onto the Afolio window to import it.

Tip: Always include reference IDs when exporting if you plan to re-import later. This ensures updates match the correct set instances.

Smart Collection Export & Import

Smart collections use their own file format (.afoliocollection) which contains filter definitions, display settings, and icons — no personal inventory data.

Exporting

A single file can contain multiple smart collections.

Importing

Before importing, a confirmation prompt shows how many collections will be added. Collections that already exist (same filter conditions) are detected as duplicates and skipped.
