Smart Collections

PRO

Smart collections automatically filter your sets, catalog, parts, or minifigures based on conditions you define — like Smart Albums in Apple Photos.

Creating a Smart Collection

  1. Click the + button in the Smart Collections sidebar section
  2. Or use File → New Smart Collection (⌘⌥N)
  3. Choose a source: My Collection, Catalog Sets, My Minifigures, Catalog Minifigures, My Parts, or Catalog Parts
  4. Add one or more filter conditions
  5. Optionally enter a name — if left blank, a name is generated automatically from your conditions
  6. Choose an icon, display mode, and sort order
  7. Click OK

The live match count at the bottom updates as you adjust conditions, showing how many items match.

Conditions

Each condition has three parts:

Multiple conditions are combined with AND logic — all conditions must match.

Available Fields

My Collection (Sets)

Year, Theme, Piece Count, Set Number, Favorite, Disposed, Date Added, Acquisition Type, Condition, Built Status, Sticker Status, Completeness, Price Paid, Retired, Parts Tracked, Contains Part

Catalog Sets

Year, Theme, Piece Count, Set Number, Name, In My Collection, On My Wishlist, Contains Part

My Minifigures

Figure Number, Name, Parts, Favorite, Wishlisted, Source

Catalog Minifigures

Name, Figure Number, Parts, Contains Part

My Parts

Part Number, Color, Category, Quantity Owned

Catalog Parts

Part Number, Name, Category, Color

Contains Part

The "Contains Part" filter finds sets or minifigures that include a specific part. Enter a part number (e.g. 3001) to match any color, or a part number with color ID (e.g. 3001:4) to match a specific color.

Tip: Right-click a part in the Parts tab or Parts Catalog and choose Copy Part Number or Copy Part Number (Color) to get the value in the right format.

Display Options

Each smart collection can display results as a list or grid. Choose a sort order (name, year, or date added) that makes sense for your filter.

Exporting & Importing

Smart collections can be exported as .afoliocollection files and shared with other Afolio users.

Exporting

The exported file contains the collection name, icon, filter conditions, and display settings — no personal data or set inventory.

Importing

A confirmation prompt shows how many collections will be imported. Duplicates (collections with the same filters) are detected and skipped automatically.
